Women of the Copper Country Book Reading and Discussion
Instructor: Meghan Mott · Literature
This is a book club class, often requested by MORE Attendees. Please read The Women of the Copper Country, by Mary Doria Russell, before attending this class. Plan to share your opinions and learning more about the background of the book and its author. We’ll explore the themes and history presented in the book, which fictionalizes the 1913 Italian Hall Disaster in Calumet, Michigan. (Book is readily available in several media choices.)
About the presenter: Meghan is a librarian at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library (though her official title is Outreach Manager, Adult Services). She previously worked at the Lorenzo Cultural Center and was a key member of the staff that founded the original SOAR program. She has a special interest in Michigan authors and is a valuable continuing contributor to MORE.
