Turning Point Macomb is an organization dedicated to helping victims of abusive relationships, offering many services to those who are trapped in a cycle of abuse, including human trafficking. Turning Point Macomb was honored with Crain’s award as being “best managed non-profit” for 2023. This class will highlight how the organization works and succeeds in a very challenging community service.
About the Presenters: La’Portia Jackson received a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in public health from Grand Valley State University. She has prior experience as a gender-based violence prevention educator and is now an Outreach Advocate at Turning Point
Jillian Smith serves as the education and outreach advocate at Turning Point. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, with minors in Spanish and Human Rights from Grand Valley State University and is presently in a master’s program at U of M Flint.
