This presentation has been reconstructed as a two-part class due to the scope of content, which simply cannot be contained in one two-hour class slot. Part Two of this course will specifically cover a historical perspective of wooden ships from the medieval period (15th century) to the age of steam. Numerous illustrations and actual ship models will be available on display to help bring to life an appreciation of these historic sailing vessels of the past!

About the Presenter: John Bieda has been involved in wooden model shipbuilding as a hobby and has enjoyed ship sailing and its history for over 45 years. He has taught various engineering courses at local community colleges and universities for over 41 years. He is currently working as a senior staff reliability engineer in the defense industry.
