Instructor: Dave Tarrant

This class is an entirely reconstructed presentation on the postwar history of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber that earned undying fame for exploits during World War II. Although extensively used after the war, this aspect of the aircraft's history has been relatively unknown, spurring Dave into a 20-year study of USAF records and other original sources to bring this fascinating history to life. This class presentation is completely new, featuring more rare photographs and insights compared to earlier classes on this topic. "Maid of All Work" is not only a story of airplanes it is also a vivid reflection of the technology, geopolitics and economy of the postwar world.

About the Presenter: Dave Tarrant was educated in the history of technology and worked professionally in the automotive industry throughout most of his business career. Along the way he maintained a strong avocational interest in aviation and automotive history. In addition to these interests, he is also a student of naval architecture, military history generally, and contemporary developments in science and technology. He enjoys practicing his management skills through service as president of his flying club as well as director of the MORE program.
