Museum Theatre—Behind-the-Scenes Class

Following the morning presentation, David Schroeder, the Lorenzo Cultural Center’s education and outreach coordinator, and producer and director of the Museum Theatre series, will illuminate the process of creating this exciting genre of theatre. How the plays come together from commissioning, through research and rehearsal, always working toward performance, will be explored. Come learn how theatre can serve as an educational tool and an exciting way to explore our past.
About the Presenter: D.B. Schroeder holds a MFA in theatre arts from the University of Idaho, a BFA in theatre performance from Missouri State University, and apprenticed at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. His work has been seen by audiences in southeast Michigan at such theatres as: Puzzle Piece, Shakespeare in Detroit, Open Book, and most recently at the Riverbank. He was recently named one of the Michigan Arts and Culture Council’s “Rising Leaders” for 2022–2023. Schroeder is the Education and Outreach Coordinator in the cultural affairs department of Macomb Community College. He produces and directs the Museum Theatre series for the Lorenzo Cultural Center.
